A beautiful sunny day at Kingston oval on Sunday was the perfect backdrop for high quality and exciting masters footy. 44 players turned out to strut their stuff.
It was heartening to see the return of a couple of the codes big name players in Arti (1st game for the year) and Kyro (back from injury) who both dominated around the ground. Also good to see Roddy back where he belongs chasing Yappa around at half back.
The cockies started the game at full tilt with man mountain Ox dominating across half forward. They piled on 7 unanswered goals with 5 from the boot of the ox, most from outside 50. Captain coach Curto was inspirational with his Q time address “kick it to Ox”.
The cats came back strongly in the second quarter to make a game of it with fresh legs from Arti making an immediate impact off the bench (late arrival) coupled with Ox being dragged for a rest.
The second half was controlled by the all conquering cockies with Ox kicking a bag of goals and being clearly BOG.
Excellent games were also had by the usual suspects, shorty, Darren Mc, ben, skutes, Cuzzo, Bobo, Arti, kyro and Yappa. Also of note was Manny who had his best game of the year, Peter Dale, Petey T and Robbie Edwards.
