A great day yesterday in perfect conditions at Kingston Oval

We had 60 players and fielded 3 teams – Weston Ck/tuggers (Sth), ANU/Ainslie/Belconnen (Nth), and Harmon, Jets, Wolves and Eastlake (Allies).  The Weston Ck side resplendent with an abundance of talent was the dominant side on the day with captain/coach Dave Skuta the player of the carnival. 

Scores were

Game 1 – WC 9.1 def Nth 3.5

Game 2 – WC 8.5 def Allies3.2

Game 3 – Allies 6.4 def Nth 6.3

Game 4 – all stars 6.4 def WC 6.3

Highlights on the day included: 

• Two quick goals in the first five minutes of Game 1 by a rampant Bobby Corrigan

• 50 metre taps by Big Jezza from the centre bounce

• Brilliant performance all day in midfield by Darren Mc

• Great run down tackle from behind by the comeback king Father

• Raking 50 metre bombs by the new Ryano and Ox

• Hands of steel marks by Matty C

• Silky passes into the forward 50 from Bodsy off the wing

• Clean mark and play on by Billy to kick one of the best points of the day

• Gritty defence by Petey T and run out of the back pocket

• Heroic defensive efforts by Hoggie as he got the ball to ground against a bigger opponent and then ran away with the ball

• A purple patch of brilliance by Dawso kicking goals at will

• Brilliant defense by the old ryano across half back

Special mention to the efforts of little Jezza who ran hard all day and impressed the umpires with his determination, Al Baxter especially when thrown into the midfield, Peter Dale who showed some class in his comeback game, and the south coast boys Scotty, Al, Brian and Mick for making the trip up to play
